About the Brewer
I have been a homebrewer since about 2003. I started brewing all grain on my second batch that I ever brewed. I have never been the kind of brewer who would get a recipe and follow it down to every last letter. I did not want to brew someone else's beer but to have it be a beer that only I had. I would do alot of experimenting, trying different ingredients that were not always what was meant for the beer style. I had to find out what it would do. I have made beer using fresh pumpkin, jalapeno peppers, root beer extract, russet potatoes, fresh apples, raspberry extract, oatmeal, spices and much more. I have entered 4 brewing competitions and have won 3 metals so far. My winning beers were Porter (gold), Stout (silver), and a Potato Pale Ale (bronze). My Brown Ale missed a bronze medal by 1/2 point for the 4th contest. I am a first year member of the "Primetime Brewers" homebrew club based in Grand Rapids MI. It has been a while since I purchased any beer from a store and I hope to keep it that way. My favorite beer style is a Doppelbock. If you would like to talk homebrewing send an email my way. I love to talk about brewing and do so most every chance I get. Bruce P.
About the Soap Maker
I was watching TV one day and a soap maker was being interviewed. That is when the idea for Homebrew Soaps was born. I had two questions I needed to get answers to before I started. The first was "Can I make soap with beer?" And the second was "Is anyone else doing this?" I soon found out you can make soap with beer and I found just one other who made soap from homebrewed beer. They have since gone out of business so I think I am the only one using homebrewed beer right now. All my recipes are orignals created by me. All soaps and shampoos are made from scratch by me and are not made by buying a premade base and adding a little to it as many others do. No melt and pour soap sold here! I also follow FDA guidelines to remain a cosmetic. This means I can make no claims about my soap other than it will clean you. If I say as much as "this soap will moisturize your skin" I have crossed the line and become an "over the counter drug" which means your product must be tested to prove your claims. I list ALL ingredients for you to see for every product I sell. If you have any questions about any ingredient or about how any product was made please contact me. Bruce P.
