First you will need to remove the dead battery from your clock. First remove the cap from the top of the bottle. Then take a large paper clip and bend it till it is straight. Then with a pair of plyers bend a very small hook (about 1/8 inch) onto one end of it. Stick the hook end of your paper clip into the access hole on the back side of the clock and position it around the positive terminal of the battery which is nearest the bottom of the bottle. When you have it in place just pull it to you and you should have the battery out enough to shake the bottle gently and pour the battery out the top end of the bottle.
Before you install the new battery you need to determine if you have a type 1 clock movement or a type 2 clock movement. To do this look thru the opening at the top of the bottle with the cap off and look at the clock movement inside the bottle. If the movement is made with clear plastic or if it is black with a white dot on it you have a type 2 movement and should follow type 2 instructions. Most are type 2 movements. Type 1 movement instructions will work on both type 1 movements and also on type 2 movements but type 2 movements instructions are easier to complete.

TYPE 1 CLOCK MOVEMENT BATTERY INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
With the cap off the top of the bottle and the old battery removed hold the bottle on its side with the clock face facing up. Insert a new battery positive end first into the bottle and roll the bottle till the battery falls into its holder like the picture above.
Then insert a small tip straight slot screwdriver thru the access hole on the back of the bottle and position it till it looks like the picture above. Then push the battery to the right as in the picture above and then down to lock it into place. Do not force the battery in. It may take several attempts to get it into place. DO NOT PRY AGAINST THE EDGE OF THE ACCESS HOLE ON THE BACK OF THE CLOCK WHEN INSTALLING THE BATTERY OR YOU WILL RUN THE RISK OF BREAKING YOUR CLOCK AND CAUSE POSSIBLE SERIOUS CUTS AND INJURY TO YOURSELF.
